Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist
Hands down the most detailed, well documented and true homage to the origin and backbone story of the famous video game.
This is no corny Hollywood money groping sellout film. This is raw fan dedication that was hugely supported by other fans and that is why it is sooooo good. Although some people will be disappointed because it may have seemed like a long wait and the 12 episodes that make up this movie only sum up the prologue for bigger things to come.
Still, many things were accomplished and ring so true to the game. We learn about how Ryu and Ken came to study the arts of Ansatsuken in Gouken’s dojo. We learn about Gouken’s past and how Akuma came to be. We see Ryu and Ken grow as rivals and as brothers. We witness the birth of the Hadouken. A few easter eggs thrown in and that feel of the 80’s!…So much win!
This proves that some things can be handled much better by the simplicity of a fan-made film than by the cluttering of a big money Hollywood Studio.
I hope they have plans to keep going as this only showed the beginning of a very promising series!
Loved every single second of it…and best of all it was free to watch!
